7 November 2013 The First Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly of Donors of the NDPTL Support Fund took place in Helsinki, Finland. The Assembly discussed project applications submitted to the Partnership and selected 4 projects to be supported in the first round of grant allocation.
In total about 1 million euro was allocated to support the following projects:
Planning of the road section Kajaani – Vartius in Finland. The project is a part of TEN-T comprehensive network and lies on the Northern Axis. The project´s cross-border impact is significant as it improves East-West connections in the Northern part of Europe.
Feasibility study for the Intermodal Container Terminal in Gdansk/Gdynia. The project develops inland connections and will benefit two important Baltic Sea ports.
Planning of the infrastructure up-grade of the Saimaa Canal. The project develops inland waterways and has good cross-border impact.
Feasiblity study for the new road section connecting the border-crossing point “Brusnichnoe” (Finnish-Russian border) and Vyborg bypass. The project is developed in co-operation between two countries, Finland and Russia, and has significant cross-border impact.
The NDPTL Support Fund is to support the projects improving major connections in the ND region and to accelerate implementation of the projects of regional interest. The Fund is to finance mainly studies bringing the projects closer to “bankability”, developing them to the level where it will be possible to search financing for their implementation. The selected projects meet in the best possible way the agreed eligibility criteria serving the most important objectives of the Partnership.
